Calcasieu Parish Jail Roster

The Calcasieu Parish jail roster is a public resource that lists individuals currently held in parish custody in Louisiana. CalcasieuParishCourt.org can help you find publicly available information about current and recent inmates. You can also access jail roster information through the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office website, by calling the jail directly, or by visiting in person. The roster allows the public to look up who is in custody, view charges, and confirm booking details. Maintained by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the roster is hosted online and updated regularly as inmates are booked in or released.

Search Current Inmates in Calcasieu Jail

There are several ways to search for someone currently held in the Calcasieu Parish jail. The method you choose depends on what information you have and how quickly you need an answer.

Online Search

  1. Visit the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Inmate Roster.
  2. The roster displays a browsable list of current inmates. You can scroll through the list or use your browser's built-in find function (Ctrl+F on a PC, Command+F on a Mac) to search for a specific name.
  3. Each listing typically shows the inmate's name, booking date, charges, and bond amount.

For court-related record searches — including criminal case records filed through the 14th Judicial District Court — you can use the Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court eSearch portal. An account is required. You can also search publicly available court information through CalcasieuParishCourt.org.

What You Need to Search

  • The inmate's full legal name (first and last name at minimum)
  • A booking number, if known, can help narrow results

Juvenile offenders are not listed on the public jail roster.

Find Calcasieu Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created each time an individual is processed into the Calcasieu Parish jail. This happens shortly after arrest, when jail staff document the person's identity and the circumstances of their detention.

Information Generated at Booking

  • Booking number (a unique identifier for that specific intake)
  • Date and time of booking
  • Charges at the time of arrest
  • Arresting agency (e.g., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Lake Charles Police Department, Louisiana State Police)
  • Personal identifiers such as name, date of birth, and physical description
  • Bond amount, if set

How to Access Booking Records

  • Sheriff's inmate roster: The online roster shows booking details for people currently in custody.
  • Clerk of Court criminal records: The Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court Criminal Records Department maintains records of criminal cases filed through the 14th Judicial District Court. These records cover case filings rather than jail bookings, but they can provide related court information once charges have been formally filed.
  • Written records request: If you need booking records that are no longer on the active roster, contact the Calcasieu Corrections Division by phone or in writing. For state-level records requests, the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections accepts written public records requests.
  • Background checks: The Louisiana State Police Internet Background Check provides criminal history information for a fee, pursuant to Louisiana Revised Statute 15:587.

Under Louisiana's Public Records Law, most records maintained by government agencies are considered public records unless specifically exempted by statute or the state constitution.

Search the Calcasieu Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office roster supports two practical ways to find an inmate.

Search by Last Name

  1. Open the inmate roster page.
  2. Use your browser's find function (Ctrl+F or Command+F) and type the person's last name.
  3. If the roster includes a search field, enter the last name first. Add a first name to narrow results if multiple entries appear.

Tips:

  • Use the person's full legal name — nicknames and aliases may not appear in the system.
  • Double-check spelling. A single incorrect letter can cause a search to return no results.
  • If a hyphenated last name doesn't return results, try searching each part of the name separately.

Search by Booking Number

If you already have a booking number — from a bond receipt, attorney, or prior search — enter it directly. This is the fastest way to pull up a specific record and avoids confusion when multiple people share the same name.

No Results?

If your search returns nothing, consider the following:

  • The person may have already been released or transferred.
  • The booking may not yet be reflected in the system due to processing delays.
  • The person may be held under a different name or a legal alias.
  • Call the Calcasieu Corrections Division at (337) 491-3800 to verify custody status directly.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Calcasieu

The Calcasieu Parish jail roster is updated on a regular basis, but it is not always instantaneous. There can be a delay between when someone is physically booked into the facility and when their name appears on the online roster. Similarly, a person who has been released may still appear on the list for a short time after their release has been processed.

Key Limitations to Be Aware Of

  • Processing delays: After an arrest, it may take several hours for an individual's information to appear online. The booking process — which includes identification, fingerprinting, and charge entry — must be completed before the record is published.
  • Current custody only: The roster reflects who is in custody at the time of the most recent update. It is not a historical archive of all past bookings in Calcasieu Parish.
  • Removed after release: Once an inmate is released, bonded out, or transferred to another facility, their record is typically removed from the active roster.
  • Data entry lags: Occasional data entry delays or corrections can cause brief inaccuracies in names, charges, or bond amounts.
  • State transfers: Individuals transferred to the Louisiana Department of Corrections will no longer appear on the parish roster. Use the state offender information search instead.

For older criminal case records or records that have been expunged from public view, contact the Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court Criminal Records Department. Expungement in Louisiana removes certain records from public access, meaning they will not appear on either the jail roster or the clerk's online search tools.
